Do I need to get groceries and ration separately besides paying alimony to her. Not divorced yet but live separately.

A.When wife is living separately and you are paying alimony as per court order, you need not pay for groceries.

A.Dear Sir,
Alimony means permanent one time settlement amount. Maintenance means monthly payment of amount to your wife it includes purchase of groceries and ration by her only.

A.Facts not clear. You did not mention when your marriage took place, how long you lived together, when did she left the matrimonial house, how long have you been living separately, and what was the causes of your separation. Is this a temporary separation or planning for divorce, when you both plan for MCD. how much alimony are you paying her? All these facts needs to be considered.
For you understanding, there are three types of alimony or maintenance. Lump sum maintenance or alimony is a one-time allowance to the wife. In Temporary alimony or maintenance, the allowance is limited to a certain time period until the partner gets her financial support independently. As permanent alimony or maintenance is that in which allowance will be provided to an indefinite time.
Wait for a direction from court. Why pay if there's no direction from court?
