Association overcharging for parking Association overcharging for parking

I live in an apartment society in Bangalore. When my parents visited me they used visitor parking for 2 weeks. Association has sent me an invoice for 15k INR and saying as per a recent rule change this amount needs to be paid. I wasn't aware of this rule. They published it through ADDA app online it seems.I didn't receive any warning. Can I say I won't pay this amount?

A.Dear Client
This is quite disheartening to see that the association sends you a bill for parking in the visitor's area. In my opinion you should challenge this and ask them to share a copy of the rule made and also the list of the members who passed/voted for the rule.

A.The typical visitor parking charges are laid down by the general body. They may range from Rs. 10/- to Rs. 10,000/- per month. It also depends on the type of vehicle i.e. 2 wheeler, 4 wheeler and so on. It is applicable only to registered members of the apartment. This can happen when a resolution is passed in the General Body Meeting to do so.
You cannot claim that you weren't aware of the rules because you are supposed to know the law of the land you reside in. If not 15K, you might have to talk to your association members and pay some amount as parking fees.
