Landlord is claiming my 1.5 lacs deposit as painting charges Landlord is claiming my 1.5 lacs deposit as painting charges

I vacated my house at the end of the agreement with a month’s notice. Due to time crunch, I couldn’t clean a few tape marks from a wall, couldn’t get the house deep cleaned (our maid swept and mopped the house) and couldn’t repair 2 sockets.

My landlord is claiming my whole 1.5 lacs deposit for this.

What is my recourse?

A.In the absence of a specific stipulation in the conditions of the Agreement, Land Owner can not claim for adjustment of the entire amount of the security deposit refundable at the vacation of the let-out premises. In any case actual cost of repairing/painting is adjustable from the Security Deposit.

Reach out to an Advocate for serving a legal notice to Landlord and file a petition before the Rent Controller concerned for redressal of your grievance.
