I am 21years old. My parents kicked my out when i was 19. But they have my passport that was going to expire in 2023. I want a passport because i wish to work in west. But i am not in contact with my family at all. I want a passport now and i was told i cant make a new one as i already have one made so i have to reissue. But there are verification process and everything and i do not want my family to know that i am making a new passport or else they will do anything in their power to stop it. I dont want anyone to contact them for any process. I live on rent now. So can i add my rent address and change my number so only i get notified regarding the process? Please let me know what can i do in this situation. Is their any legal procedure that i can follow to get it sorted ir any way how i can get my passport without having my family involved in this?
I understand your situation, and it's essential to address it carefully. To apply for a passport without involving your family, you can follow these steps:
Online Application: Visit the official Passport Seva website (https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink) and create an account. Fill out the online application form for a passport reissue. Make sure to select the "Reissue of Passport" option and provide accurate information.
Address and Contact Details: In the application, you can provide your current address (where you are residing) as your present address. You can also update your contact number to ensure that all communication regarding the passport is sent to your current contact information.
Verification: Passport authorities will conduct address verification. During this process, a police officer may visit your current address to verify your details. Make sure to be available at the provided address during the verification process. Provide any necessary documents to the verifying officer.
Affidavit: If you want to avoid contact with your family during the verification process, you can submit an affidavit explaining your situation to the Passport Office. The affidavit should state that you are estranged from your family, and you do not wish to involve them in the passport application process.
Legal Assistance: If you encounter any difficulties during the process or if your family tries to interfere, consider seeking legal advice or assistance from an attorney. They can guide you on the best course of action to protect your interests.
Keep the Process Confidential: Make sure not to share any sensitive information or your application details with anyone who could contact your family or compromise your privacy.
It's crucial to note that while you can apply for a passport reissue independently, the authorities may still contact your family members for verification, especially if they were included in your previous passport application. However, explaining your situation through an affidavit can help clarify your circumstances.
Additionally, consider contacting the Passport Seva Kendra or Regional Passport Office in your area to discuss your specific situation and seek guidance on how to handle the address verification process discreetly.
Thank you.
