Goa property transfer ownership
Hi
I inherited a immovable property in Goa (non ancestral) through a will made by each of my parents separately, each leaving their 50% share to me. Could my other 2 sublings contest the will or is this final.
Do I need a probate on this will in goa.
I have already transferred the tax and utilities in my name. What is the process to transfer the ownership to my name.
Thanks
Ron
A.Dear Client,
Inherited property matters can be complex, and the specifics depend on local laws, including those in Goa. Generally, if the wills of your parents clearly specify their intentions to leave their respective 50% shares to you, it strengthens your legal claim. However, legal challenges can arise. To secure your position, consulting with a local attorney who specializes in property and inheritance laws in Goa would be prudent. As for the probate requirement, laws vary, but in many jurisdictions, obtaining probate can add legal validity to the will. Check with a legal professional in Goa to confirm whether a probate is necessary. To transfer ownership officially, complete documentation is crucial. Ensure you have all necessary legal documents, and consider engaging a local solicitor to guide you through the transfer process, which may involve the local land registry office in Goa. This step helps in solidifying your ownership and avoiding potential complications in the future.
