Whether cooperative housing societies ( Maharashtra Coop Act and Laws ) are covered under Right to Information Act ? Who is appellate authority .
A.Dear Client,
Cooperative Housing Societies in Maharashtra, governed by the Cooperative Societies Act, are not classified as public authorities under the RTI Act, 2005. However, information related to their core activities, as defined in Section 2(f) of the Act, can be obtained from regulatory bodies such as the Registrar or Deputy Registrar appointed under the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, subject to the provisions of Section 11 regarding third-party information. Any requested information must not be exempted from disclosure under Sections 8 and 9 of the RTI Act.
