A property will lose it's ancestral nature if partitioned.

I belong to a joint family. We have an ancestral pond which is right now in the name of my grandfather's father. Do I have any right on that pond?

A. If you have the relevant documents regarding the concerned pond belonging to your great grand father, and documents to prove that you are one of his legal heir , then you have right on that pond.

My grandfather built a house registered in the name of my grandmother. Both are currently dead. My father has one living sister(married) and other siblings are all dead. My uncle's(elder brother) son

A. Hi,
Since it is an ancestral property, it will be inherited by all the siblings of your father including him, equally.
You are advised to go to the registrars office at your local jurisdiction along with the photostat copies and apply for a certified copy which is equal as the original and make a complaint to you local police station of such misplaced deed.
