Cutting down neighbouring land dangerous trees Cutting down neighbouring land dangerous trees

There are 4 coconut trees which are staying dangerously on our neighboring land. The landowner is settled at Mumbai. We had informed him multiple times regarding this. But he didn't give a mind. We called him over the phone 5 days back, and even after we expressing the danger about coconut trees, he did not speak anything and cut the call. Hence, we complained to the Municipality. They came and checked and said, they can only give notice to the owner's address for cutting down the trees and it's their decision. Finally, we informed to his father's (late) brothers (late) wife, who is staying nearby our house, and received a signed letter from her stating that she is cutting down the trees on behalf of the owner, as its staying dangerously for our house and as the owner is not available at hometown and also due to the non-responsiveness of the owner over the phone multiple times.
If the owner comes and gives a police complaint or file case later, will it affect us in any way?
