WIFE RIGHT ON IN LAW'S ANCESTRAL PROPERTY
3 years ago
if husband is seeking divorce ,does his wife have any right to her father in law's ancesteral property at time of divorce ?
being considered, wife was sharing same shelter ( ancesteral non movable property: house) with her husband & father in law after marriage since 3 months.
husband is being disowned from his father will ,& rented a new home does his wife still challenge for her father in law ancestral property at time of divorce? or push to stay in same house rather than with her husband rented house

A.In divorce a wife can only claim maintenance or alimony as per the law and during the divorce many things get decided and specified in the divorce terms itself which are binding however pls note that children born out of such broken marriage will have share I. The ancestral property as per the property succession laws of India.

A.Hi,
No, the wife will not have any rights on ancestral property. She can, however, request to stay there until the terms of the divorce have been finalized and she has found alternative accommodation.

A.Hi,
No, she will not have such a right. But she can claim a share of any self-acquired property of the husband. She can however, request that she be granted temporary residence there.
