I'm living in an urban city, I and my neighbor's house have a common compound wall, So I have requested my neighbor to sign on an affidavit/bond paper that this will belongs to both of us and it is a partnered wall. Then they are saying that they agree verbally that it is true but they won't sign the same on the paper. My intention is to avoid any disputes in the future between my son and their son to avoid fights over the common wall, and even while selling also the buyer wants clear and safer proof that this wall belongs to both of us. They are not signing it even explaining after 100 times that this is good/best for both of us to avoid any kind of conflicts in the future. Please let me know/suggest a way to make my neighbor sign it. I'm helpless and hopeless, Kindly suggest

A.Dear Sir,
Get issue a strong legal notice saying that it is a common wall and if no reply is received it will deemed that it is a common wall and if anything happens to the wall both yourself and neighbor to share expenses for the repairs.

A.Hi,
You can contact the local municipal officer in your jurisdiction and refer your dispute to them. You are being prudent but a simple recording or an oral promise before any witness should also suffice.

A.Hi,
I suggest that you place on record any such conversation that you have pertaining to the boundary wall. A legal agreement is drafted to address partition but here it one of the mere issues and therefore a simple recording should be enough.

A.See even if they don't sign it is a fact that its a common wall and that both of you have to honour that way and your sons and daughters have to follow on your path in future and avoid any kind of altercation related to the common wall. There is no need of any written document as such but you are right that if there is one it will be good.

A.This is not a big dispute, probably you can make him explain in detail about your concern in respect of the same and why you want to get this done and that there is no malicious intention if he feels so or else you can just personally take the same in writing on WhatsApp or just record his conversation wherein he says the wall equally belongs to both of you. The matter overall doesn't appear that serious as it will be commonly understood that since the wall lies in between both properties it has to be common of both owners. Thank you.
