Can my elder brother claim my self acquired property(plot) which I purchased after my marriage with my own money? when partition of my father's property was happening then my brother brought a point that as we both were in combined family when I purchased the site/plot so he is expecting share in the site that I purchased with my own money(I am software engineer). FYI, This property was registered on my name already

A.Dear Client,

As its sole owner, you have an exclusive right over your property, your ownership of the property remains constant. A brother can only claim the share in the ancestral property, as a coparcener and not over your self-acquired property.

A.Your brother has no legal right to claim any share in your self acquired property. You have not specified whether the Partition process is going on amicably for registration of Partition Deed or any Partition Suit is pending in this regard. Please take note that to suggest appropriate legal remedy,it is necessary for a Lawyer to become acquainted with the actual fact of the case.
