My husband sleeps in his mother's room My husband sleeps in his mother's room

My father-in-law passed away 7 months back. I understand this was really unfortunate. But ever since my mother-in-law has become very manipulative. She insists that my husband sleeps in her room, so that if anything happens to her in the night, there is someone to take care of her.

Initially I agreed for this and in fact myself told my husband to sleep in her room for a week or so. I understood she was emotionally weak and needed support. But now it's been 7 months and this still continues.

I have tried talking to my husband. He says he has a responsibility towards his mother. She is too dependent on him.

I feel so lonely in my own marriage. Nothing seems to work. Should I file for a divorce? Is this even a ground for a divorce? I feel I'm not required in this house. My communication with my husband is almost nil as he spends all the time in his mother's room.

A.Dear client,
If your husband doesn't talk to you for one reason or another, you should speak to him instead. Start on a positive note by telling him that you love your marriage and care about him. Then, calmly ask what the problem is without making it his fault.
Well, if you consider this as abandonment, then it can be a ground for divorce. But the court might not agree on the same. So, you can file a divorce on any other grounds.
