I am married for the last 14 yrs. I have a 6 yrs old daughter. My husband works in an MNC, but he is alcoholic and abusive. He is does not abuse physically, but mentally and verbally. He abuses me and my parents with filthy gaalees. I want a normal life for my daughter. what are the legal options I have ? Can I ask him to contribute towards the expenses of my daughter and can I also make him pay the EMIS charged on me as I had to take loans to run the family when he was jobless ?

A.Physical abuse is not mandatory, verbal abuse is also cruelty. Cruelty is valid ground for Divorce.
You can file for child custody because you will mostly get daughter custody.
File Domestic Violence case with Maintenance case.

Hope this clarifies,
