Inheritance

My brother is unmarried and expired without a will. He has a lot of property(in the form of shares, fd's etc). I am the nominee of all those shares and deposits. Now since there is no will I inherit all that alone or will all the legal heirs(brothers and sisters) are eligible to that property ?

A.Hi,
Nominees only hold the assets on behalf of the legal heirs of the deceased and that mere nomination of shares does not amount to beneficial ownership of an asset.
The legal heirs will be entitled to the deceased's assets.

A.general people think nominee means heir.
nominee is only trustee/custodian.
nominee job is to ensure to give the shares and deposits to legal heirs.
so you will not get anything.
Hope this clarifies,
