Hi,

I am [married daughter] from chennai and property located in tamilnadu. My father inherited the property from my grandfather's self acquired property by will. My father have one son and four daughters. My father and mother are alive. Now my father wants to give entire inherited property to his son. Shall I demand equal share in my father's inherited property when my father is alive? Also may i know after will , this property considered as ancestral property or self acquired property?

A.Hi,
Ancestral property is defined as one that is inherited up to four generations of male lineage and should have remained undivided throughout this period. Therefor, the concerned property is not ancestral property, however, if you father makes will, you cannot question as this property is self-acquired property. And a person has all the rights to transfer the property.

A.Hi,
The concerned property would be considered as self-acquired property, as, ancestral property is characterized as one that is acquired up to four ages of male ancestry and ought to have stayed unified all through this period. Also, you can not ask for your share in the self acquired property, as the person has whole right in his property.
