Does my stepmother's daughter from her first husband have any right on my fathers property after my stepmother's death? cause my father had no children from her and this daughter dosen't belong to my father.And also my mother is still alive but she was devoced without any compensation and my mother took care of us.plz explained as too how the property will be divided? Between my stepmother and we r 2 sons from my fathers.

A.Hi,
According to Indian law, a daughter has a right to equal share in the property of her father, even if she is his step-daughter. According to the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act 2005, daughters have the same right as sons to their father's self-acquired property, if he dies intestate, that is, without a will. The property will be divided equally among all legal heirs.
