Stamp duty rate increased after I paid the duty for buying house. What to do? Stamp duty rate increased after I paid the duty for buying house. What to do?

I paid stamp duty at lower rates in March 2021 to buy house in Pune. Agreement registration not done yet due to Covid situation. Stamp duty has increased in Maharashtra after 31st Mar, 2021. Do I need to pay additional stamp duty if I register the agreement now?

A.Hello
If the agreement registration has not been done yet then you'll have to pay the increased stamp duty. The amount paid to the builder for stamp duty and stilll not done would not make any exceptions. You'll have to pay the increased stamp duty.
Thanks.

A.Hello
If you have not already paid the stamp duty to the registrar or revenue officer, then in that case you would he required to pay the new stamp duty that is the additional stamp duty. You couldn't do anything about this you'll have to pay the said stamp duty.
Thanks.

A.Unless you have paid the stamp duty to the authorities that is the revenue department/sub-registrar (paying to the builder does not mean PAID) then you you have to pay with the new rate on the date of the registration of the property.

A.Stamp duty paid is valid for 6 months from the date of payment so I believe you will not have any problem before September 2021 if you happen to register your document. Thank you.

A.Stamp duty is only applicable during the registration of the document so if the stamp duty has increased within the interregnum and the registration is incomplete then the current stamp duty has to be paid.

A.Stamp duty is paid on registration of Agreement. If you are registering Agreement in the current situation where stamp duty has increased you will have to pay it if there is no agreement between you and the seller in contravention.
