Defacing of Walls of Private property by Election Candidates

My house walls have been extensively defaced by the election posters of different candidates during corporation elections since I have been out for sometime for job commitments. I want to take legal action preferably through a complaint with the government so that these candidates are penalized officially. With whom and where should I put in the complaint and under what provisions of law?
