SBM cheque

I friend has given SBM cheque on Dec 2020, but I haven't knew it's no longer valid. After I deposited it to my bank, bank said they can't process it as it's no longer valid. I asked them to give it written form so that I can go legal. They saying they can't provide such letters. I tried to contact my friend who gave that cheque he is not responding. What should be my course of action?

A.Hi,
You may send a legal notice to your friend since he provided you the invalid cheque, also you need have the bank's letter for the confirmation that such cheque is not valid.

A.Dear Sir,
You may file a cheating case against him since he duped you by giving invalid cheque. Such complaint can be lodged in Police Station if refused you can approach Magistrate Court directly by filing private complaint. Also try to get endorsement of any thing from the Bank and try to file cheque bounce case. Please discuss.
