I had taken cash loan from a person more than5 years ago. It was repaid but signed cheques without date and letters issued to him were not returned. Now that person has expired and his son who does not know anything about the transactions is threatening me. He said he has tied up with an advocate and vasooli people and police to recover the money.

A.vasooli and police is beyond this forum.
you can approach police for threatening.

The son can definitely file cheque bounce case after sending notice and you can prove it wrong in court.
Better you send notice to him and stop cheques.

A.As the signed cheques without date and letters issued to him were not returned by him or his son, so no need to worry as any blank cheque without date will not prove anything against you. Go and make “stop payment” in the bank. If the person demands any kind of payment do not give to him as it is already paid by you.

A.The limitation for recovery is merely three years so after five years no recovery proceeding can be initiated as being barred by limitation. The act of son of deceased person is illegal. Demand back your cheque and issue instruction to bank to stop payment of cheque. There is nothing to worry. Report the matter to police if said person harass you or take law in hand.
