My wife lived in Azamgarh before our marriage. I live in Pune. I have sent my wife to Azamgarh.I don't want to live with her since, she wants me to leave my parents and stay with her. I have communicated the same to her. Now, her entire family is threatening me that they will file a case of cheating and demand for dowry against me.
Since, I am born and brought up and residing in Pune. My question is :
(a) Can a case be filed in the state of Uttar Pradesh against a person residing in Pune (Maharashtra)??
(b) If yes, then will I have to appear in Uttar Pradesh court for every date??
A.Hi,
Your wife can file the case in Azamgarh. You can get the case transfered from Azamgarh to Pune.

A.Hi,
Your wife can file a case in Azamgarh. No, you don't have to appear for every date. You have two options:
a. Either transfer the case from Azamgarh to Pune
b. You can take leave of the court to not to attend the proceedings and instead your advocate would attend.
