Electricity bill dispute on agricultural land
2 years ago
My father has sold his agricultural land 10 years back and he did not apply for disconnection of electricity . We go the electricity bill few month back which is too high. New owner has been using the electricity since it was sold and he still uses but does not want to pay the bill. Electricity bill wont disconnect the electric connection since it was on agricultural land. Can you please advise what should we do?

A.If you have the sale deed of sale, you can send a legal notice to the present owner informing him of the bill and directing him to make the payment along with getting the electricity connection mutated in their name. Majority of the sale deeds have the clause requiring the buyer to do so.
You can also send a formal letter to the electricity board informing them of the fact that you sold the land 10 years back along with the details of the buyer.

A.Hello Sir
As the connection is in your name the bill would generate in your name a you are liable to pay that. But you could claim that amount from the person you have sold the land. Also you try contacting the department and tell them you have sold the land and you could initiate a suit against the purchaser as well.
Thanks

A.Hello Sir
It would be advised to contact the electricity department and tell them about your problem and show the paper of the land that you have sold. Otheriwise you could file a suit.
Thanks
