My father had gifted me roof of the house owned by him. I got the gift deed registered and constructed house on first floor for my family. Now after the demise of my parents my sister is demanding 50% share of the house whereas as per my understanding the first floor now belongs to me and only the ground floor remains in my father's name which can only be divided between us. What is the legal status on this matter.

A.If you have a gift deed registered in your name then you are undoubtedly the owner of that part of the property and your sister cannot ask for any right in that. You are right that only the ground floor remains an ancestral property and that can only be divided.
