Property Documents submission Property Documents submission

Hello Sir,
We have a ongoing case for our house and we also have a lawyer whos handling the case. My concern here is the case has been on for more than 8 years now and all the copies of the documents were submitted to the lawyer but now the lawyer has asked us to submit all the original house document to him. Which we are not comfortable with, but we are willing to present the same in the court when required, kindly suggest if it is safe or necessary to handover the document to the lawyer? Also how can we know the current status of the case through documents because the lawyer has been sharing the status verbally with us but we need to be sure and understand the status of our case, is there a posssibilty to do so?

A.Courts sometimes ask the originals to be shown to them, and sometimes when ask for originals they will be ordered to be kept in safe custody. So, you can personally take the originals and handover to the Court, if asked. You can check the ordersheet of your case to see if such a thing has been ordered.

A.If you have provided copy of all the papers to your lawyer than no need to provide him original, original will be required in the court at the time of evidence.

A.I don't see nay harm in handing the documents to the lawyer unless you have any reason for suspicion or doubt. You can also take the documents with you on the hearing date and handover the same in front of the judge in the court. The lawyer, anyways, has to be submit the fairlist of the document being submitted in the court so there is no need to worry.

Secondly if you know the case no. then you can see the case status by going to the site www.ecourts.gov.in.
