Usurping of money and jewellery by Bride's father

I married off my son to a family relative US Citizen girl in 2021. Unfortunately, the marriage did not succeed due to cultural and compatibility issues. However, the girl's father is refusing to retun my US$50000 paid towards the mortgage of the house purchased jointly and also the 56 soverigns of gold jewellery that was given to the bride during wedding. My son is now in the US but the bride's father is black mailing that he will not give the money and jewellery, despite my son filing a divorce in Feb 2023.
Can I file a crminal case against the bride's father for stealing my usurping my money and jewellery?
