We have been married for 6 months and my husband cheated on me with three girls, I am an indian Citizen and he is a Singaporean Citizen. Our marriage was solemnised in Singapore.

I want to file an annulment now, is it possible to file it in india or I have to go to Singapore to get it annulled as it was registered there?

A.Dear Client,
In general, the jurisdiction where you can file for an annulment or divorce depends on various factors, including your place of residence, where you were married, and where both you and your husband are citizens. Here are some considerations:

Place of Marriage: Since your marriage was solemnized in Singapore, Singaporean law may apply to your marriage, and you may need to consider filing for annulment or divorce in Singapore.

Residency: Some countries have residency requirements for filing for divorce or annulment. You may need to establish residency in Singapore to meet their legal requirements if you choose to file there.

Mutual Agreement: In some cases, both parties may agree on the jurisdiction for divorce or annulment. If you and your husband can agree on where to file, it may simplify the process.

Consult an Attorney: Given the international nature of your situation, it's crucial to consult with an attorney who specializes in family law and international divorce or annulment cases. They can provide guidance on the specific laws and requirements that apply to your situation and help you navigate the legal process.

Indian Laws: You may also want to consult with an attorney in India to understand the potential implications of your marriage under Indian law, even if you ultimately decide to file for annulment or divorce in Singapore.
Thank you.

A.Dear Client

You can get your marriage annulled or dissolved as per the laws of the place where you got married. Since you have been married in Singapore hence you need to do that in Singapore.
In case you both are in India then you may try to get it done here by filing a joint petition.
