In the Registration Act, 1908 the registration of document has been categorized into two: Documents that have to be registered compulsorily and the documents which can be registered optionally. Section 17 of the Act deals with compulsory registration and section 18 deals with optional registration. You can go through the provisions in order to categorize your document.
