Landlord not returnign deposit Landlord not returnign deposit

We vacated the apartment in August 2020 and since then landlord has been avoiding our calls and messages. Before leaving the apartment, I had asked for deposit and he shouted at me saying I will clear it first get your things out my new tenant is waiting. He is a big fat jewellery store owner and I am really irritated and afraid that he may have a big army of lawyers to crush our case if in case we press charges. Please help! I don't have any money to afford a full fledged lawyer.
