Dear Sir,
We want to transfer a flat from my sister's name to me(her brother) with Minimal cost for transfer. What could be the best option for this? We have heard of gift deed but will we have to pay stamp duty charges again for this and how much it would be? Looking forward to your valuable suggestions.

A.Hi,
It varies from state to state. Your sister can execute a gift deed in your favor and get the property conveyed to you. It is important to do registration within 4 months of the execution.

A.Dear Sir,

Yes, the gift deed is the best option but still the donor has to pay the stamp duty plus registration charges. There are different rates for calculating stamp duty rates as it is differ from state to state.
