A.Hi,
Take one or two witnesses with you to ensure there was no undue force or coercion at the time of handing over property. Then you will have to inspect all the necessary documents to ensure that the property does in fact belong to the mortgagor and not someone else. It would be better to have a legal professional with you at this stage. You shall also have to check the revenue records and other necessary documents to see if there are any other claims on the property.

A.Hi,
Ideally, you will need to visit the property once so as to know about its extent and boundaries. Ensure that the sale deed, title deed and mortgage agreement are all in order with the correct signatures, and up to date. You will also need to be given revenue records of the land and an account of taxes paid on it so far. The most important thing to ensure is that the property does in fact belong to the person who is handing it to you as security, and not someone else. You can also have a couple of witnesses with you to ensure that there was no duress or coercion at the time of handing over.
