I have a property in my late fathers name. he is having six children including me and my 2 elder brothers and 3 married sister, rent receipt is in my fathers name, he was passed away in 1994, after that me and my 1 elder brother (we both brothers) staying at property till date, does others i.e 1 Elder brothers which is not staying with us and 3 married sister have rights to take share in the property? since last 30 to 40 years we both brothers are paying rent.

A.Hi,
If your father died without a will, then all his legal heirs(including married daughters), can claim a share of the property.

A.Hi,
If your father has not left behind a will, then all his children, including your married sisters, will have a right to claim a share of the property.
